Military Recruiting

Throughout its policies and procedures, the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law is committed to the principles of equal educational opportunity for all regardless of race, color, national origin, ancestry, age, sex, sexual orientation, height, weight, marital status, familial status, disability, religion, creed, military service or political belief.

We recognize that the military’s recruitment policies conform to current federal law and regulations even as we acknowledge that those policies are inconsistent with the School of Law’s non-discrimination policy and the Association of American Law Schools’ Bylaws (Section 6-3).

As a law school, we believe deeply in judging people by their merits and in the importance of our non-discrimination policy.  We also believe strongly in service and in giving back as a core part of our mission to ‘integrate the intellectual, spiritual, ethical and social development of our students.’  Consistent with that mission and recognizing the nobility of military service to our nation, we trust, encourage, and equip students to make informed decisions regarding the option of military service when selecting the organizations with which they interview and seek employment.
