The University of Detroit Mercy School of Law hosted its 10th Annual Voice for Justice Auction on Saturday, April 14, at the Detroit Golf Club. The theme for this year’s auction was “Celebrating a Decade of Service to the Community” complete with live and silent auctions, cocktails, a strolling supper, desserts, and live entertainment.
David Sherbin, senior vice president and general counsel for Delphi Automotive, was fresh from passing the bar exam in 1987 when he got his first taste of pro bono work.
It was an experience that still resonates with him today, some 25 years after he began his legal career with one of Chicago’s principal transactional law firms.

“There’s not much coverage of it in college programs or grade school – so, they’re bright and capable and eager and launching into a field they’ve never really had a chance to explore before. It’s a lot of fun to go on this adventure with them and to be their guide as to parts of it. It’s always fun for me to see how far they go in such a short period of time.”
Olson, who teaches Constitutional Law and the First Amendment, finds his students bring a wide array of background and experiences to the classroom, and “an amazing cross-section” of socio-economic classes, ages, occupations, creeds, and cultures.

University of Detroit Mercy School of Law finalized the purchase of a historic Detroit firehouse on February 1st, 2012, which after being fully renovated, will serve as the new home for its renowned clinical program. The School plans to open the new facility in December 2012 in conjunction with two significant milestones: the 100th anniversary of the School’s founding, and the 47th anniversary of its first Urban Law Clinic.

NEW YORK, Feb 17 (Reuters) - Call it the downtown advantage. Saint Louis University School of Law has become the latest law school to announce plans to move, or expand, downtown.
The new location will offer law school students easier access to real-world professional experience, law school administrators say. The move from the main campus to a donated 11-story building will take place in time for the 2012-13 academic year.
The School of Law hosted its 99th consecutive Red Mass in September. Red Mass is an occasion for judges, lawyers, and officials of all faiths to pray together for guidance at the beginning of the new judicial term and join in the Renewal of the Lawyer’s Oath of Commitment.
