Applying to UDM School of Law

Applicants are encouraged to apply for admission as early as possible in the academic year preceding entry into law school. First-year students matriculate once a year in August.

The priority deadline for applications is April 15.

A complete application to UDM School of Law includes:

  1. Signed and dated application or, if applying electronically, signed Certification Letter.

  2. Non-refundable application fee of $50.00 (U.S.). Please make the check or money order payable to the University of Detroit Mercy. Include your social security number or LSAC account number on the memo line.

  3. Personal Statement. Applicants are to present themselves and their qualifications in a Personal Statement. This statement should not exceed two typewritten or electronically attached pages and should include your name and LSAC account number on each page.

  4. Two letters of recommendation. References may forward letters of recommendation directly to the School of Law or utilize the Letter of Recommendation service offered by Law School Data Assembly Service (LSDAS). At least one of the two letters of recommendation must come from a college instructor, unless the applicant has been out of college for a number of years.

  5. Resume. Applicants must submit a complete resume since high school graduation. Please include all past and current employment, community activities and service, extracurricular activities, continuing education and enrichment, awards, prizes and scholarships. Applicants should be certain to provide information about time periods not reflected in their academic transcripts.

  6. Law School Data Assembly Report submitted to the School of Law by the LSDAS.
