Special Summer Program

Each summer, the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law operates a conditional admissions program also known as the Special Summer Program (SSP) for minority, disadvantaged, or disabled applicants who do not meet the minimum standards of the entering class, but who show potential for the study of law. Participants who satisfactorily demonstrate ability in the SSP are only eligible for admission to the J.D. degree program and not its joint J.D/LL.B program.

The SSP begins in late May and is approximately eight weeks long. UDM advises applicants to the SSP to submit an application by March 15 in the year they wish to be considered for the SSP.

An applicant who wants to be considered for the SSP must indicate so on application question 11 and include a statement describing the circumstances that qualify the applicant for admission to the SSP.

Only applicants to the J.D. program may apply to the SSP.
