Summer Program

Each summer, Detroit Mercy Law operates a conditional admission program,  known as the Summer Program, for applicants whose academic history and/or LSAT score(s) do not meet the minimum standards of the entering class, but who show potential for the study of law. Participants who satisfactorily demonstrate ability in the Summer Program are only eligible for admission to the American JD degree program at Detroit Mercy Law. The Summer Program begins in late May and is approximately eight weeks long.

Detroit Mercy Law advises applicants to submit an application by April 1 in the year they wish to be considered for the Summer Program.

Applicants must have a high LSAT score in at least the 15th percentile of that test’s administration to be considered for the Summer Program.

After much thought, we have decided to suspend the Summer Program for the 2021 summer because, in light of COVID-19, we will not be able to offer the intensive, in-person experience that is at the core of student learning and engagement in the Summer Program.
