Featuring: Nathan Goetting, author of "The Supreme Court's Actual Innocence Problem: How the Supreme Court of the United States Has Failed to Reduce Wrongful Convictions"

In recognition of Constitution Day, Nathan Goetting analyzes recent US Supreme Court rulings in all of the areas of constitutional criminal procedure, which wrongful convictions scholars generally agree are most flawed in ways that lead to wrongful convictions.

113th Annual Red Mass

Join Detroit Mercy Law and the legal community in celebrating the 113th Annual Red Mass. Red Mass is an occasion for judges, attorneys, civic leaders, and law students of all faiths to come together and pray for blessings and strength in the coming year’s work. This year’s Red Mass will be celebrated by Archbishop Edward J. Weisenburger, Archdiocese of Detroit. The Honorable Shalina D. Kumar '96, United States District Court, Eastern District of Michigan will lead the Renewal of the Lawyer’s Oath of Commitment. All are invited to join a luncheon reception in the atrium at Detroit Mercy Law immediately following the service.

Discover Detroit Mercy Law Day
Friday, October 17, 1 - 4 p.m. Detroit Mercy Law, In-Person
Prospective students and their guest(s) are invited to come to our campus in Downtown Detroit to learn more about Detroit Mercy Law. You will have the opportunity to hear from Director Henning and Director Winbigler about the application process and choosing a law school, take a mock law class with a Detroit Mercy Law professor, and take a tour of the building with a current student.

University of Detroit Mercy School of Law awarded Voice for Justice Fellowships to Mariah Sammons, a rising third-year student, and Toni Loptien, a rising second-year student. The fellowships support their service as legal interns this summer at nonprofit organizations dedicated to advancing access to justice. 
University of Detroit Mercy School of Law’s 2024 graduates achieved a 93 percent employment rate in legal and professional positions. Graduates secured employment in a variety of settings, including positions with law firms, courts, and government, business, and public interest organizations across the United States and Canada.
University of Detroit Mercy named Nicholas Schroeck the next dean of the School of Law. While the University conducted a national dean search, Schroeck served as interim dean. He is a leader in legal education, a sought-after environmental law expert, and a member of the State Bar of Michigan.
