Detroit Mercy Law graduate Emily Elmer awarded Vivere Ex Missione Award
University of Detroit Mercy School of Law graduate Emily Elmer ’23 was awarded the 2023 Vivere Ex Missione Award. Each year, Detroit Mercy presents the Vivere Ex Missione-- “To Live Out the Mission”--award to four graduating students, including one from the School of Law. This award is presented as a surprise at the commencement ceremony.
Elmer received this award for her dedication to service and justice, as demonstrated through her commitment to the school during her three years as a law student. She was the Director of Internal Competitions for the Moot Court Board of Advocates. In this role, she coached first and second year students and organized the annual Patrick A. Keenan Appellate Advocacy Tournament.
She served as a judicial extern with Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s Office of Legal Counsel. Elmer is the first graduate from Detroit Mercy Law’s 3+3 program in partnership with Oakland University. Additionally. Elmer was a Dean's Fellow
Before coming to law school, Elmer served as a paralegal for many years. Upon passing the bar exam, she will begin her legal career as an Associate Attorney with Warner, Norcross, and Judd.
