Applicants selected for this program will receive a deferral of admission to Detroit Mercy Law conditional on successful completion of the entire LexScholars Program.

Participants in the program must be committed to enroll at Detroit Mercy Law upon completion of the program. Participants who complete the program will automatically receive a minimum of a 20% scholarship to Detroit Mercy Law as well as a stipend from AccessLex.

    Referral and Selection Process

Applicants do not need to indicate any interest in the program on their application to Detroit Mercy Law. If the admissions committee feels that an applicant is a strong candidate for this program, the applicant will receive an offer of deferred admission contingent on completing this program.

Participants who satisfactorily demonstrate ability in the Summer Program are eligible for admission to the US JD program. The Summer Program begins in late May and is approximately eight weeks long.

LexPreLaw Program

There are sometimes steps that applicants need to take before they are ready to be admitted to law school. Detroit Mercy Law is dedicated to helping applicants put together the strongest application possible. Through the LexPreLaw Program, Detroit Mercy Law hopes to help applicants who are denied admission improve their application and chances of being admitted in the next application cycle.
